Evaluation of Aqua-Crop Model using Onion Crop under Deficit Irrigation and Mulch in Semi-arid Nigeria

The Aqua-Crop simulation model has been playing a crucial role in assessing the performance of existing strategies for management irrigation schemes improving agricultural water use efficiency. This study evaluated using Onion crops under deficit and mulch practices semi-arid Nigeria. Measurements were taken from experimental plots which consisted each at 4 levels used to evaluate canopy cover, biomass, yield, actual crop ET, productivity during 2021 season. simulated results statistically compared with results. cover highest degree correlation coefficient (0.74 ? r 0.94). perfectly predicted yield biomass full irrespective mulching. However, underestimated irrigation. estimated seasonal evapotranspiration different materials while underestimating most treatments except 100% white synthetic mulch. both better plots. Therefore, proven be good growth predictor can help improve water-stressed areas like
